Yanni Hufnagel Is Creating a Legacy
You can see that Yanni Hufnagel is one of those guys that loves something so much he breathes it in a way. A nice Jewish boy from Scarsdale New York probably conjures up visions of your doctor or lawyer but Yanni Hufnagel is all basketball. If he could have played he would have no doubt surpassed Michael Jordan on his love of the game alone. With Yanni as assistant coach Harvard won the Ivy League. It was a huge win that Harvard had never experienced before and it also helped the basketball community to see the promise of players like Jeremy Lin.
Yanni Hufnagel’s early days began with sports announcing for the sport of basketball that he loved but didn’t play. He would go to college at Cornell after spending a year at the University of Pennsylvania. At Cornell he would be the manager of the basketball team for a season. It was while at Cornell that he was did a summer and fall internship with the New Jersey Nets. After college he went to Oklahoma where he built a strong bond to Blake Griffin and left a clear picture of what he was capable of in building excellent players. His next move was recruiter for Harvard, and it was his determination and incredible spirit that attracted players to Yanni.
After Harvard, Yanni would coach at Vanderbilt, and the University of California – Berkley and landed at the University of Nevada – Reno as assistant coach. The Nevada Wolf Pack will have Yanni and his years of experience and dynamic personality working for a dynamic 2016-17 season.
