Thor Halvorssen Fights for the Poor and Oppressed Around the World

There are a lot of bad things going on in the world. Unfortunately, many of the bad things are a result of people abusing other human beings As is the case when it comes to human rights abuse. All around the world, authoritarian regimes are denying their citizens even their most basic human rights. Ruthless dictators will punish anyone who speaks out against them or challenges their methods. Most people think that they are powerless to do anything about these cruel dictators who mercilessly imprison and torture their citizens. But not Thor Halvorssen. Thor Halvorssen is not afraid to stand up and fight against these dictators who abuse their fellow human beings.

Thor Halvorssen has a long history of fighting for the rights of others. It has long been Thor’s mission to give a voice to the powerless and the oppressed. Thor Halvorssen worked with Amnesty International and other organizations to get his father released from prison in Venezuela after he had been jailed and tortured based on false charges. Thor Halvorssen founded the Human Rights Foundation in 2004 after his mother had been gunned down and wounded by government security forces while she was participating in a peaceful demonstration in Venezuela.

The Human Rights Foundation is involved in protecting liberty and getting political prisoners around the world released from their unjust incarcerations. The HRF uses publicity as a tactic to expose the human rights violations committed by dictators around the world. Once these human rights violations are exposed, the pressure placed upon these dictators by the international community often forces them to relent and release their political prisoners. The actions of the HRF have resulted in at least 7 people gaining freedom from the prisons where they were unjustly held by dictators. The HRF has been active in countries including China, Cuba, Bolivia and Vietnam.

Thor Halvorssen is also a talented movie producer. Halvorssen uses film as a means to raise awareness of human rights violations that are happening around the world. Some of Halvorssen’s films include The Sugar Babies, Hammer and Tickle and The Singing Revolution.
