An 18-year-old girl in a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy has never let that stop her from achieving major accomplishments and pursuing her dreams. This story has a special place in my heart as I too have cerebral palsy and have been in a wheelchair since the age of three. I was blessed with parents and a family who never treated me differently and I was able to achieve all of my hopes and dreams. Because of this I am leading a very fulfilling life.
This 18-year-old girl’s life may have started off the same as mine, but her circumstances are quite different. Unfortunately, her mother died in 2010 due to cancer and she found herself not only disabled, but now homeless. Despite this incredible challenge she did not let that deter her from achieving her goals.
She will soon be graduating from high school as the valedictorian and has received a scholarship in New York that will pay $10,000 a year toward any college expenses. She has already been accepted to many colleges and is just waiting to hear from them all before she makes her final choice according to Yelp!
The social worker that works with her states that she is a true inspiration that never sees obstacles, only opportunities. She shows us that anything is possible if we want it bad enough.
