Beneful: Nutritious Food for Dogs

Beneful is a brand of dog foods that has been ranked as one of the top four brands on the market in 2012. Beneful is part of Nestle Purina Petcare and include dog treats, wet food, and dry food for dogs. Beneful brings in some of the highest revenue out of all of the Nestle brand products. According to a spokesperson for the brand, the term “Beneful” was coined to mean “full of goodness”. Beneful is made and packaged in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Beneful began showing up on the market in 2001. The brand is best known for the quality of their products, which includes real beef. Beneful is nutritious for dogs, as well as safe. The products that go into making the food are from raw materials that are tracked from the moment they are received at the Beneful plant until the product is complete. There are standards that the company has set in place for the suppliers who provide the ingredients that go into making quality dog food. Those who work hard to produce Beneful are careful to follow the strict regulations of the FDA and USDA. Many who work for Beneful have said that they feed their dogs Beneful brand food because they know that it is a quality product.

There is an annual competition hosted by Beneful called the Beneful Dream Dog Park Contest where entries by participants are submitted to have their local dog parks renovated. So far dog parks in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Alabaster, Alabama, and Johns Creek, Georgia have seen their parks renovated thanks to the Beneful Dream Dog Park Contest. The most recent city chosen for a park renovation is Prescott, Arizona.

Beneful is also known for their creative advertising. In Australia, Beneful aired a commercial on television that emitted a high pitch noise that only dogs would be able to hear. In Germany, they released a series of posters that emitted the smell of dog food in order to attract dogs to them. In cities such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, St. Louis, and Atlanta there are billboards where those passing by can stop and play a game of virtual fetch with a dog of their choice.
